Overlooked handheld consoles?

PS Vita and PSP Go is probably the two overlooked handheld I've seen. I owned both of them and I like them. PS Vita had a good library(what I mean is that the library may be small but it does have good options in the game), looked slick and honestly, was better than 3DS in my opinion. I also liked the design of the PSP Go, and the system of only downloadable games was great, it meant that you didn't have to worry about the game going missing or stolen. However, it was apparently not the time for that kind of system to happen, even though it's now encouraged and it was working on the PC . Oh well, I hope that the recognition for the PS Vita continues on.
The difference between the PC and the PSP Go was that the PC still allowed you to play any games which you had on physical copies. The PSP Go forced you to buy digital, and nothing else. Which meant that it was just a big middle finger from Sony to anyone who had spent a lot of money on buying actual games up until now.

I think their desire to push proprietary media hardware just backfired on them as always. Sony has always been pushing things like this and only is time later on they seemed to start to backtrack from it.

I agree with everyone that said the PS Vita was the most overlooked one. It's so underrated that even Sony doesn't market it nearly as much as it deserves, or give it the support it should have. I am convinced that if Sony supported the Vita with more triple A games and marketed it better it would be very successful. As it is all it gets are ports and indie games, which is sad since it's such a powerful machine.

You're right. The vita is basically a ps3 that you can carry around, and I think that is pretty amazing even by today's standards. I think the only hindrance for most people is the price, because the unit is already expensive enough but after buying it you'd have to spring for the memory card and expensive games as well.

Everybody forgot about the Atari Lynx. It was technically streets ahead of the game gear and game boys of the time. It was released before the game gear as well. If it had been properly supported with games it would have been a great success.
I agree the Atari Lynx had great potential but it lacked the support with other games, plus it wasn't advertise nearly as well as the other handheld games.

I was always curious about this but sadly it was not available in our area and I don't think I could have afforded it anyway. It looked like it was expensive.

I'm ashamed to say but except for the 3DS, PSP and PS Vita I'm not aware of any handheld consoles. I think the Wii U is also kind of handheld, which is probably my favorite out of all.

I think PS4 has a lot of improvement so far. And consoles seems to be going good with the PC rising in gaming. I think dedicated gaming has it's benefits too. I'd surely consider handheld consoles in many ways.

That is the biggest problem with us- we tend to forget the old stuff when new ones are invented.
Things are being old pretty fast now. Like some handheld consoles in 2008 are now none of use in 2018. In past it was not that fast. Some consoles survived 20 years.

I don't know if anyone remembers Gizmondo which is another overrated handheld gaming console.
