So, you are going in the right way. Just persist and don't get discouraged because the beginning of everything is always the most difficult part.
I think that goes through the heads of all the people who are starting, but even if there is some kind of disappointment... If it's to happen, it will happen.
But don't get caught up in it, always think things will get better. Positivity always attracts good things.
I think if you know how to use them, Facebook ads can be very effective (mora than we can imagine).

yes advertising is very important, especially if you are a small youtuber like me, in the future I also plan to advertise through adwords, but first I have to figure out what would be the best option when advertising

Advertising is the way to go but it takes patience.

Find few more other forums too. I am sure those forums can bring more traffic. More places where you promote the more you can gain traffic. I have seen this working for others. And I would say it's not that bad to work with such type of the promotion. Also do the PPC ads if you are once monetizing the channel.

Yes, i agree there is no escaping it but sometimes it limits you.

I have heard some good things about the Faccebook ads too. But just make sure to have some landing page or website where your videos are posted. And then you can drive traffic to those videos. That should also bring some views.
Well there a lot of methods to use but that one is good as well.
