While I agree with a lot of people that say Diddy Kong racing was objectively better than Mario Kart at the time, I just didn't find it as fun to be honest. I played quite a bit of it and was addicted for a while, but if you asked me after to choose between one of them I would choose Mario Kart, it's just more fun for me.
No, Mario Kart was purely Kart races and it had no transformation into anything else. In that regard Diddy Kong Racing introduced a very cool system in which you could fly planes and have water races as well. Like I said, it is objectively the better game at the time, I just found Mario Kart slightly more fun. I think the items are what make the difference for me, the ones in Mario Kart were crazy, and they still are. That's cool. To each his own. I never played the original Mario Kart so I have nothing to reference it to. But I'm sure it was similar in many aspects. Did the original mario kart have planes to race with?
I never got to play this game but Mario Kart has opened me up to kart racers and now I'm hoping to try this someday soon. I'll probably get an emulator but as much as possible I prefer to have the more authentic experience.
Thanks for the suggestion! Unfortunately though I don't think that console got popular in my country so I doubt there are many owners here but I guess if I looked hard enough I could find and buy a used one off of ebay. Is it really that much different of an experience to using an emulator?Trust me if you know someone that still has an N64 and this game them you have to convince them to borrow it to you I will tell you that you will not regret it at all.
