Real racing in GTA?

I hope that GTA VI will bring real life racing tracks along with racing cars. I would love to play in NASCAR (although that would take a lot of money for copyright), that would be a nice addition and would definitely make GTA more complete.

I wouldn't hole any hope for real life brands or racing series' in GTA any time soon.

Mind you it would be nice in a future game if they did add a race track or sorts. SA had it with the indoor bowl arena and V has that motocross track under construction quite close to the prison.

I think a nascar mini game would be great in GTA. I'm sure they could work that in somehow, but yeah it would be great if they managed to put in real tracks in.

A small oval track would be fun to use.

We already have an oval in V in the form of the horse racing track, but the surface of it slows your car down so much that it isn't really that fun to drive around on it...

I think the fact that GTA games are based in a single city make having a sufficient variety of tracks a near impossible thing. One Nascar track with clones of real Nascar vehicles is probably the best we could hope for.

You're right. Maybe they could place a lot of individual tracks too from other racing sports like f1. I think that would be a hit with many people.

How would they implement it though? The image I've got in my head is you go to a marker at the airport and you then spawn on the grid of a racetrack of a different country.

I think that could work. If not, then at worst they could just put in go karts as it would look silly and will fit right in with the GTA universe.

That could work too but for it I see some sort of purpose built track facility being made. You could have it how it was in SA, where you entered the stadium, a loading screen happened and then you was in a grid of stock cars, but with current console power that method is obsolete I think.

I never played sa but from what I know about it and how packed with activities it is, It's probably the closest to this idea. I'm sure they can adapt it into a more modern style somehow since modern consoles are now almost limitless in possibilities.

Almost limitless yes but I can't see Rockstar brining back "level loading" like with previous games. I think that is something that has been surpassed and the only way I can see it working somehow is the way I said a few posts up, or something along those lines.

I don't really think of the GTA series as racing games. Sure they have those mini racing missions, but they don't play a huge role in the game as a whole. I think that series is about exploring the world they created and having your fre will. Sort of like living on Earth!

I haven't played the game in a while, but I might jump in just to check out those Nascar tracks. It should add some more replay value to the game for me.

There already are custom race tracks in GTA Online, and one I've downloaded is actually NASCAR. You should check those out.

Have you got any screen caps of the tracks and are the tracks banked in any way?

You could make a banked course out of those halfpipe objects I'm thinking.

The NASCAR addition does sound nice and I imagine it fits perfectly with the universe so I'll definitely be checking those out.

There are already NASCAR games so I never thought of the GTA games as needing a NASCAR minigame. I don't know how car races would fit into the big city cosmopolitan feeling of GTA games. I think that a street racing minigame would fit into that world better.

I'm thinking if they wanted to incorporate this then they would just have to build a stadium wherein you can enter and play. It would be great if they could do it in a way where you could also earn money playing tournaments there as well.

Right, but my point is, if they're going to do NASCAR-style racing in GTA, they'd have to set the game in a more rural area. That kind of thing would not work in Los Santos, Vice City, or Liberty City. If there's a GTA: Kentucky, then maybe. They could even do a race like the Kentucky Derby. If they incorporate more street races in one of the big cities of GTA, though, Rockstar could take some aspects of Midnight Club (another game by Rockstar).
