The CEO of Straight4 Studios, Ian Bell, had shared his hopes for a 2024 release on his personal X account, but with the game ditching Unreal Engine, it was assumed the release would be delayed. Project Motor Racing has been pushed back to a possible first-quarter release in 2025.
The company's CEO, Bell, was asked by Traxion.GG whether 2024 remains a realistic goal. "No. During that time, we didn't have to change [game] engines," he said, referring to the move from Unreal to an as-yet unnamed game engine.
“Changing engines is huge. We felt to plug everything back into the new engine then work it to the way we wanted in terms of rendering… we’re taking our time to do the product right,” Bell commented firmly.
“We’re making sure [it’ll be] something we’ll be proud of that is the Project CARS 4 that we always wanted,” said Bell, referring to the Project CARS series of games his Slightly Mad Studios created prior to being acquired by American publishing giant Electronic Arts.
“Project CARS 4 was going to be a hardcore simulation but [also] a really good game and that’s what we want to do with the new one,” he concluded.
