I'd pick a PC over the sole advantage of being able to do more than just play games/stream media/browse the web. I'm into content creation too, not just consumer entertainment.

PC
- Bigger games library
- More powerful machines (run games better)
- better graphics
- Keyboard and mouse = win
- easy chatting capability (teamspeak, skype, ventrilo, etc)

Console
- Exclusives (e.g Halo)
- Massive gamer base

Everything you can do on a console, you can do on a PC but more.

I would prefer a console in terms of gaming if compared with a PC. A console is designed to do quality gaming and is cheaper than a PC. A console provides much better gaming experience than a computer.

Okay.

Advantages of PC Gaming
  1. Better Graphics
  2. More games to choose from
  3. Ability to simply ugrade one of the componenets instead of buying a new system
  4. Better control using mouse and keyboard

Advantages of Console Gaming

  1. Cheaper (xbox costs 200 bucks for example)
  2. More casual (sit at the couch and play)
  3. Can dual play (2 controllers)
  4. Less hassle starting the game and no viruses

In my opinion, consoles are easier to use and control. You can also chat with friends a lot easier, and you can kick your feet up and play it on a TV. With PC, I don't like the controls as much and you can't relax too much either. However if you have enough money you can build a PC far superior to any console.

Oh no, not this again. People simply don't get that people other than themselves may have different tastes and opinions. Some will simply find that consoles play better than PC's while other people will believe that PC's have an edge over consoles. It's entirely self perspective as each have their own advantages and disadvantages.

I myself prefer PC over consoles, but it's not because "PC mastur race!!!1!10". More like, PC can be used for multitasking as well as playing games. Graphical options and the ability to upgrade is also present. I also have an Xbox 360 but I haven't used it in ages, simply because I don't really play the games on that console anymore.

I am both a PC gamer as well as a console gamer who has owned almost every console since 2005. Advntage of being a PC gamer are following -

1._ Better graphics

2.) Better support

3.) A passionate modding community.

4.) Better aiming with mouse and keyboard.

5.) Games are way cheaper.

Advantage of being a console gamer -

1.) Insert the disk and start playing without having to worry whether it will work or not.

2.) Better exclusives

3.) A cheaper option to game (Hardware wise)

I would say that chatting on PC is much easier than it is on a console!

Dude, this is a discussion forum. It is meant for topics like this where everyone provides their own points of view. Obviously everyone has a different taste, but that is what we are here to discuss!

PC:
-more game options
-more mods developers
-better performance/graphics
-better handle in the keyboard and mouse
-exclusive (Half-Life, etc.)

Consoles:
-exclusives (Halo, Uncharted, The Last of Us)
-cheaper than PC

The bottom line: PC is a better alternative but it is expensive, quite a bit, to have high-end performances.

I think buying a console is just a lot more convenient than having to worry about specs and upgrading for most people. That, and having all the functionalities and features such as browsing and streaming already thought out and laid out for you is very practical too for most people, as those are the only things they'd want to do with their consoles anyway, unlike if you had a powerful PC in place of the console/media center, then you'd be able to do more, but you'd actually have to want or need to do more on that particular system.

PCs were not meant for games, while consoles were meant exactly for games! I feel a lot more comfortable playing from my sofa with the joystick in my hands than from the chair facerolling the keyboard! Haha!

Urm... WHAT?!

PC games were about before consoles...

"In 1959–1961, a collection of interactive graphical programs were created on the TX-0 machine at MIT"

First generation consoles were out in 1971-1977..

If PC's weren't meant for games tbh most consoles wouldn't exist, especially when the new consoles (xboxone and PS4) are basically PC parts in a nice case with a custom OS...

PC gaming is for Nerds. Console gaming is for Geeks. That's just one and the same right? Oh yeah, right... Because there's really not a lot of difference between PC and console gaming. You want NBA 2k13? You've got it on the PC and the PS3. You want Call of Duty? Both PC and consoles have it. Throw in a controller for the PC and you feel like playing on a console. Throw in a keyboard and mouse for the console and it feels like playing on the PC. Sheesh.

There really is a big difference between the two, and gaming really is not just for nerds or geeks. For example, on PC you generally have more settings for your game than on a console. Want a bigger FOV on PC? No problem, either change it in a setting or adjust some file. On PC you also have mods, for a lot of games. That's just not possible on consoles. On top of that, games are often much cheaper on PC than on a console. Then again, the console itself is much cheaper than a good PC.

Also, don't go around claiming that all games are both on consoles and PC, just because the biggest titles are. For example, the WWE games, all the Naughty Dog games, most Halo games are not on PC. On PC's you've got games like the Civilization series, or the Total War series that are not even playable on consoles. And I'm just giving a few examples here, I could go on for longer, but there's really no point.
