Is Cable Worth it?

Is it worth the money to have cable? I mean the only thing I would keep cable for is to watch football, but that's one day a week. And there might be shows I like to watch too, but again, that's another two or three hours a week that I watch anything on cable. Otherwise it's off. I don't know. I think cable companies need to let customers choose the channels they watch and allow them to just pay for the channels they watch. Rather than paying hundreds of dollars for crap that's never good enough to watch.

Here, it is cheap enough and the local channels and their shows still can't be accessed online so it's still worth it to have cable. I've been reading a lot of comments on US consumers that sports is pretty much the only reason to keep cable now though so you are not alone.

With Internet streaming and TV and sports games so readily accessible on a PC I don't know. And NetFlix is slowly becoming a powerhouse.

I don't think cable is worth it. I'm just not a fan of commercial TV. All the unnecessary advertisement is my problem. I see why they do it but I also see the subliminal effect it has on the people. I just stream from the internet.

Agreed. I think cable is mostly still around just for the previous generation who are too used to it, but the kids around me barely turn on the tv anymore and instead they just watch whatever they want on the computer.

I have cable. It's not bad if you watch a lot of TV. But I only watch it once in a while so I don't know if I'm making the biggest bang for my buck. It's good to have in case you don't want to be on the computer or something.

Maybe. There are already Netflix out there but there are also many TV shows you can't watch on Netflix. But you can stream it online but it's still different when it airs on TV.

Same here, from time to time I still prefer watching tv just because you don't need to actively seek out what to watch and instead you could just relax and change channels. Though I don't use it enough to be worth the monthly expense too.

There are some pretty good TV shows out there for sure. But, if you don't really like TV and you're not heavily invested in TV shows are that are specifically for TV and want to follow it as it goes by, it may not be worth it. The expense is there and you're interest in TV has to be on par with the actual cost. In reality, Netflix has loads of TV shows from cable, that granted has been on TV for a very long time previously and has already ended it's course, and it's way cheaper and more mobile. You're choice in the end honestly.

Yes cable is worth it especially for watching sports and other live entertainment. Sometimes going online network could be slow, the videos wouldn't run smoothly and gets tough following the event. With cables you're sure to have a better experience.

I remember they(cable companies)would keep uping your bill every month- so you would get tired of it pretty fast when I had it-but I had a antenna to pickup a lot of the games back in the day and just watched dvds- also I had no cable back then and did just fine. In todays world though there is more streaming content than ever and it continues to grow. The streaming services like Sling carry the games now with those channels-so there is no reason to pay 100 dollars for cable every month anymore?

Yes, especially when you want to spend a lot on shows and movies that you can literally watch online...for free.

If you're a busy person who hardly has time to watch tv then obviously it's not worth it. Besides, you can watch anything you want online nowadays.

I am not using cable for how many years now because all of the shows that I want to watch are now accessible to the internet. So I think today, cables aren't worth it anymore.

I don't think it's worth it anymore. Most of the good stuff is on netflix type of the channels. So TV is pretty much waste of time and money. I do see the point of the free to air channels. But apart from that there does not seem to be much value in cable.

Right now I'm just so used to streaming shows online that I don't care no more for cable. I actually think cable is going extinct.

I think if you want to waste your money for the sake of it. Then you can do so through the cable. I personally don't see much of the reason. It's kind of waste for me if you ask me.
