Driveclub won't support split screen?

I always enjoyed playing racing games in split-screen with a friend at my side. It's pretty fun even if you have to share some screen space. Now, recent news has stated that Driveclub won't support split screen competition with a friend. How do you feel about this?

Do you have a link for that? If it is the case, it does kind of suck, but it's been a long time since I've played split screen with a bud. I usually just play online with them, now.

Well... that sucks. I definitely won't be buying the game if this turns out to be true. Seriously, split-screen multiplayer is a MUST in any racing game, what are they smoking - I want some.

Driveclub won't support split-screen in the free version. It will also have less cars and tracks. The paid version on the other hand, doesn't have this limitation. That's what I understood.

I've always felt like split screen was too much of a compromise, especially back in the CRT television stages where you didn't even have that much screen space to begin with. Still, it was better than nothing, but in this case, I think it's acceptable. I think DriveClub is trying something new, and they should be allowed to. What I'd prefer more is that Sony or whoever comes up with it first, to start offering the ability to use two TVs for two players on the console. I personally hate playing Army of Two or racing games in split screen.

If that is true it's completely weird. I've never heard of a game not allowing split screen. It kind of turns me off to the game since I regularly play with friends.

I've always liked these types of games as well, there's just something about playing with your friend next to you that makes it more fun. I they change their minds on that one

This surprised me because it should have split screen. This should have been improved from previous years. I like to play with my friend on split screens too.

This is true, unless ou buy the full version, it is 1.99 more but personally i think it is worth it. only two dollars and you can play with a friend. Give it a try!

If it is only two dollars to get the split screen. Then I would definitely make that small investment. Though, it is kinda annoying that they had to make this sort of move.

Split screen was always fun, but since people are now moving more towards online play, splitscreen is sortof becoming unnecessary to some companies.

This does not dissapoint me too much really. I am not someone that would use splitscreen, however having it as a side option is always nice.

I'm in the minority here on this one I see. But I'm saying it anyway, so what and big deal. A ton of games don't have split screen these days. It's a dieing factor of gaming.

And with the rise of online gaming comes the fall of needing to share a screen (which by default makes the screen smaller for BOTH players). Not to mention you and the person next to you can see what the other is doing, which sort of takes away from the strategy of most games.

Split screen is good for SOME games even in this day and age. But this and most SERIOUS racing games, it's not.

If we're talking about something like Mario Kart, then I can understand wanting split screen. But for something like Driveclub?, Hell no.

I don't use splitscreen ever, to be honest, so that doesn't really upset me. It would be cool to have though just in case I want to use it.

Me too. No matter how big the tv is, the screen being split always still kind of bothered me, but of course it's the best option to have for now when it comes to local multiplayer.

I am not a big fan of Drive, even though I liked some of the games. If driveclub won't support a split screen then I believe this is a big minus for them since a lot of people I know (and me of course) loves to play this game and games like these on their days off, at a friends house or so. And, I sure know, that it's no fun to play one after another and watch others playing. Everyone wants to compete and this is what this game should be about, not individual play.

I wasn't planning on playing Driveclub anyway, but this is just icing on the cake. Split-screen was a huge part of any racing game and simply so fun that every racing game had to have. Though nowadays, most games don't offer split-screen and focus more on online multiplayer, which is also nice, but split-screen offers a different kind of fun with a friend next to you, both of you boasting about that win, etc.

Never really been a fan of split-screen races in these types of games so it's not really a loss for me if this is indeed true. I've always had problems seeing things when I played split-screen so I never really played it in these past couple of years (except for MK). Online gaming is the future and offers almost the same experience so I don't think there's much lost. The only thing I could thing of is the excitement of playing together in the same room but since I live on my own now there's really no need for that.
