Today Sony officially dropped the release date for its flagship PlayStation 4 racer. The new date, October 7, nearly a year from its original release date to coincide with the PS4 launch in 2013.
Racing fans may have been hoping for something a little earlier, but Shuhei Yoshida, president of SCE Worldwide Studios, said the time is being spent making a better game.
“The problem with being ambitious is you have to be prepared to accept there will be challenges along the way. What Driveclub offers has not been previously achieved in this category, and, because of this, the team needed more time to give you the game you’re waiting for,” he said.
Yoshida also announced that Paul Rustchynsky is the new Game Director of Driveclub, and has been since February when previous Game Director Col Rodgers split.
Sony also released a new trailer for the game, embedded above.
