That sounds completely and utterly ridiculous. No matter how realistic racing games get I would never trust someone that learned to drive on Gran Turismo on the road.

Yeah, I would imagine it's only for racing though so you wouldn't see anyone on the road that only has a Gran Turismo permit.
It's a pretty cool idea but I'm unable to see how you can drive a car in real life by playing this game. it's completely different.

Thing though is though you get a real racing license you probably aren't going to be racing anywhere. To enter an auto racing competition you'll need a sports car (the cheapest one costs around $30K), sponsors . . . and more. It's a marketing ploy IMHO.

Maybe the license only applies for playing in FIA sanction online racing events and not actual physical racing? This is the way I'm looking at it because it would be like having a bike license to drive a car, and a car license to drive a bike....

They call it "real" so if they want the meaning to kind of vague giving some hope to anyone who has ever dreamed of competing in an auto racing competition it works quite well.

And oh, there's the GT Academy for those who want to become race car drivers.

Mind you it gives kiddies who dreamed of playing racing games for a living some home of that dream becoming a reality!

Yeah... this doesn't make any sense at all. It's two different things, you can't really compare one to another. It's also never going to happen. I hope.

Dude if people can actually do that this would be epic in my opinion. I have always been a fan of Gran Turismo series and felt like it does take a certain set of skills to play this game. No one can just go on there and expect to race well. One thing is for sure tho and that's the fact that those license trials will be way harder then it was before!

A free channel dedicated to esports on some form like cable or satellite would be good but making the channel subscription only might put people off.

It's crazy how esports are becoming a real thing. Thinking back when playing Gran Turismo 2 for instance, I never would have thought that 16 years later people would be doing this stuff for a living.

They could start by testing the waters see if there'll be people willing to pay. In any case some money could be made from commercials because there are companies that make stuff which people interested in racing games might want to buy. A small percentage of that money could go to the pro gamers . . .

They are bound to pump as many adds in as possible so as to ensure it at least turns a slight profit and if the channel is for free then I haven't really got a problem with that.

According to one self-confessed wrecker who was banned from iRacing, there are numerous ways to have fun whilst playing online. What makes people like him happy? Wrecking.

Some people enjoy griefing and making other people playing a game miserable. It's popular in certain racing games and in things like Minecraft etc. I don't think people are buying the game for the sole purpose of trolling others, but it's just something they like to do within the game... for whatever reason.
